Setting it up, on the phone
No computer, no cable, no scripts. Android hides the switch TapSwitch needs behind Developer options, so you turn that on once and the app does the rest to itself.

Install the file
Android will ask whether to allow installs from your browser. Say yes, then open TapSwitch. Setup starts on its own.

Unlock the hidden menu, once
Android keeps the toggle TapSwitch needs behind a developer options menu that stays hidden until you tap your phone's version number seven times. TapSwitch opens the right screen and names the exact row to tap, in your phone maker's own words.

Turn on Wireless debugging
The app opens the settings screen for you and tells you what to tap. You turn the switch on, choose "Pair device with pairing code", and type the six digits into the notification TapSwitch puts in your shade.

Pick your two cards
Your access card app and your tap-to-pay app. TapSwitch turns Wireless debugging back off behind you and starts working. You do not open it again.

Change which card your phone presents
This is the entire app. It is also why setup needs Developer options: Android will not hand this to an app any other way.

How it knows Wallet is open. It reads the name of the app on screen, never anything inside it, and nothing is stored or sent.
Keep running, and restart after a reboot
A switcher that stops when you are not looking is worse than no switcher.
Reach the internet
Only to ask whether a newer version exists. There is no account, no analytics and no server that knows you exist.
What it does not do
The things that would annoy you later, said now.
- The borrowing card only holds the slot while its own app is on screen. If you set your access card as the borrower, the door needs the screen on with that app open.
- Built and used daily on Oppo ColorOS. Any Android 12 or newer phone should work, but nothing else has been tested.
- Setup needs Wi-Fi and about eight taps in a settings menu most people have never opened.
- On phones that refuse the quick permission, TapSwitch installs itself over the top during setup. Your phone may ask you to confirm that install, and the app closes and reopens once. Nothing is lost.
- Paying leaves the app. Buy now opens your browser at the checkout, and your code is on screen the moment the payment clears, with a copy by email.

When the trial ends, TapSwitch stops switching and your phone goes back to the way it worked before. Only one app answers the reader then, whichever one is set as the phone's default, your wallet or your access card.
No refunds. The 14 days are free and nothing is held back in them, so you find out whether TapSwitch works on your phone before you pay rather than after. That trial is your chance to decide, and it is why a code cannot be refunded once it has been issued.
